Ashbourne is a small, pretty market town of great character set in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales

Two markets are held weekly in the town on Thursdays and Saturdays. Several specialists food shops sell local cheeses and meats. There are numerous antique shops, craft and art galleries. Ashbourne has many boutique and designer clothes shops.

Meadow Holiday Cottage is centrally situated for days out to Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Chester, Stratford-upon-avon, and some costal resorts are a possibility for a day trip. The cottage is approximately 20 miles from Donnington Park racetrack.
The local pub is in walking distance being less then one mile. Walk to and explore the delights of the River Dove.
The nearest shop is two miles at Rocester.The larger supermarkets being in Ashbourne and Uttoxeter.Uttoxeter (6 miles) has a train station and a new super bowl and cinema. Uttoxeter sports a horse racing track too.
The cathedral city of Derby is 17 miles away and now has the large shopping centre ‘Westfields’; Derby being famous for its Royal Crown Derby china.
